Assessment and Referral Services
Assessment/referral may take place on site at CHRC for clients in the Withdrawal Management Unit (WMU) and Intervention Management Unit (IMU), or at either of the two local prisons for clients who are referred by the court system. Qualified counsellors meet individually with clients to obtain background information, assess current functioning needs, readiness for change for people addicted to alcohol and/or drugs, and sources of motivation for treatment. These assessments may form the basis for treatment programme recommendations or referrals for external services.
