This year’s theme “You are Not Alone: Zero Male Suicide”. According to the World Health Organization (WHO,2019), Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. More than twice as many males die due to suicide compared with females.  Through this campaign, we hope to have a greater impact by broadening our reach and targeting diverse groups to address risk factors associated with male suicide. We have organized various activities in observance of the theme among which are The State of Men & Boys Forum part two, Men & Boys Football Tournament Cayman Brac , IMD Dress for a Cause, Men & Boys Basketball Tournament & Managing Financial Risk Reactors (District events).

The sporting events organized for International Men’s Day are unique as they are aimed at encouraging healthy and fun interaction between men and boys. This year, we will be partnering with the Cayman Islands Basketball Association (CIBA) to organize the basketball tournaments. All teams will consist of a mixture of men and boys, which will encourage positive male interaction and role modelling.

International Men's Day 2021 | Better Relations Between Men and Women

As we continue to make changes in our lives to adjust to the reality of COVID-19 within in communities, we also continue to strengthen our support for men and boys. Our mission remains unchanged - creating a nurturing and empowering world for men and boys. It is in doing so that we are able to promote 'Better Relations between Men and Women'.

One of the six pillars of International Men's Day is to promote gender relations and promote gender equality not only for men but for women too. This pillar has influenced the 2021 IMD theme. International Men's Day is observed annually on November 19.

While we as a global community tackle the pandemic, we join hands and hearts together in observing International Men's Day on November 19. The Family Resource Centre is committed to this cause and has planned several activities for the duration of the month of November. We invite you to join us in celebrating positive male role models within the Cayman Islands community!

Schedule of Activities 2020

2020 Dress For a Cause

We are inviting all entities within our community to organise a Dress for a Cause day on Thursday, November 19, or any other day during the month of November, based on your convenience, to recognise the positive contributions of the men. Entities may access specially designed IMD shirts from the FRC to be a part of their dress-down-day. The day may be used as a fund raising initiative for the Family Resource Centre. All proceeds from the sale of IMD shirts and donations received will go toward programme for men and their well-being.

2nd Annual 3x3 Basketball Extravaganza | 28 November | The ARC, Camana Bay

This second staging of the FRC's 3x3 Basketball Tournament promises to be one for the record books. We have lined up a fun-filled, exciting day of competition between boys and men, guaranteed to be good to the last buzzer. The competition takes place in two (2) divisions for juniors (U12) and open seniors for all other players. What is exciting about our basketball extravaganza is that there must be a minor on court at all times during the senior division. This gives an opportunity for both men and boys to play together in a healthy, competitive manner and build camaraderie. This staging includes live entertainment, a free throw and minute-to-win-it contests and a cash prize of $1000CI. Registration is FREE!
