Telehealth

Telehealth disclaimer:

The Counselling Center has adopted Telehealth Services as a new platform to meet clients’ busy demands in addition to allowing vulnerable populations the opportunity to access services remotely.

Instead of physically attending for an individual or group session, Telehealth offers clients the same level of services via a digital platform.  Generally, this is a phone call or video session (through Zoom or WhatsApp) that can be done via a device that connects to the internet such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.  Email communication may also be necessary to provide links for video sessions.

The Counselling Center strives to help clients make informed decisions.  We therefore want you to be aware of the different platforms of individual and group Telehealth to help you determine if this is a suitable option for you to access services.

If you are interested in Telehealth services you must be familiar and able to use the below resources.

WIFI- internet or Data through telecommunication provider
Telephone
Video ZOOM
Email
Streaming media

The Counselling Center would like to inform the general public that there are some limitations to telehealth services.  Online and telephone therapy/counselling is not a replacement for clinical face to face counselling and therefore some interventions are better in person.  Limitations include dropped phone calls, poor broadband connections or signal disruptions, lack of in-person connection for rapport-building.

If you have a crisis, telehealth is not an option. If you are in need of suicide prevention or deem yourself or others to be in danger of any kind, call 911.
